What do the A-side B-side C-side and D-side mean in firefighting?

Building sides/floors and exposure designations - Unless indicated otherwise by command, the front of the building will be side A, followed in a clockwise fashion by side B, side C, and side D. Each floor of a building will be identified by number with floors below the main floor identified as 01, 02 etc. Exposures will be identified by the appropriate side letter followed by a number. (Example: the second exposure on side B is exposure B-2.)

Don't know if having a ballast on each side will do any good, I have a kit for them with 9007's and a balast that plugs into the factory harness on each side, and it still tells me that my brights are on.
