Valence numbers, in relation to the Periodic Table, mean electrons. If you know the basics of chemistry, you know that electrons form pairs in the "shells" of an atom. The valence number refers to the number of electrons in the outermost "shell".

it doesnt. valence electrons re the outer most electrons, or the last field. so if the first field can only hold two and the others after that hold eight then you have to figure it out drawing it helps. so if you have carbon 6 then you ave four electrons in the last field, sooo the valence electron number would be four

At the very least, the atomic number and atomic weight of each element will be displayed on a periodic table. The atomic number is the number of protons in the nuclei of the atoms of a given element. The number of protons identifies an element, i.e. each element has its own unique atomic number. The elements are arranged on the periodic table in order of increasing atomic number. Some periodic tables also include oxidation numbers and electron configurations, as well as other information.

The valence electrons are also the vertical groups. The horizontal groups are the amount of rings the atom has.

How can i look at the periodic table and tell how many valence electrons an element has?

The group of the element indicates the amount of valence electrons. For example, the alkali metals have one valence electron and is in group one whilst the halogens have seven valence electrons and are in group seven.

yes, the number of dots represent the number of valence electrons in the periodic table.

How would you find valence electrons in a periodic table?

the group number of the periodic table shows the valence electron. such as :- sodium is placed in group 1 and have valence electron.
