Lye in bed on that day. If you proceed to vomit, take sips of water to hydrate and if you still throw that up, just wait a while. Usually you get the chills, so get a warm blanket. Stay calm and it will usually only last 12 to 24 hours. If longer, contact a doctor.

I would suggest going to the doctors. They will probably determine what type of flu it is. After that rest will do anyone good.

After going to the doctors, be sure to eat more fruits and maybe drink some warm barley . All these will help soothe your throat.

Drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated.

There are many important steps to take when you have a cold or the flu, and these are just a few:

  • Take lots of Vitamin C. This can be easily consumed with Emergen-C drink available at most grocery stores. Or eat vegetables and fruits rich in Vitamin C, like citrus fruits, cantaloupe, etc.
  • Drink lots of water. This will prevent dehydration which can prove very dangerous.
  • Get lots of rest. This will help your body greatly in fighting off the germs.
  • Take pain relievers like Motrin or Tylenol for any pain you feel and to reduce fevers. Be careful of developing a stomach ache from some of these analgesic/fever reducers. Taking them with food or milk can help.
  • Finally, VISIT A DOCTOR IF YOUR SYMPTOMS WORSEN.
  • Some people seem to produce extra mucus when they drink milk while having a cold. If this is a problem for you, avoid milk but continue to get plenty of protein and vitamins from other sources.

While a flu shot will not be effective against any active flu symptoms it will protect against the other flu strains contain in the shot.
