If they are harmless snakes (check out the head shape), then pick them up and relocate them to an unpopulated area. Also, find out what makes your yard such a fine environment for them. Some towns have licensed wildlife rehabilitators who will be glad to help you with this.
Just to add to this thread: If one of these snake ever goes after your kid, shoot it with a shotgun... If that's not available poor alcohol into its eyes...
The fear of snakes is ophidiophobia.
It is said that diesel fuel can be used to repel snakes in a yard. Another good method that can be used for repelling snakes is to spread mothballs along the perimeter of the yard.

Coral snakes are one of the most venomous snakes in North America. I can see why you want to get rid of them. Unfortunately snakes are part of the Earth and it's hard to get rid of them. But you can try to keep them away. 1. Remove woodpiles and any underbrush from your yard. 2. Make your yard boring and don't put any plants out. That's the only thing I can tell you. Killing the snake would be cruel because snakes are part of the environment. Snakes eat mice and other animals that can damage your home. After all snakes were way here before people who built on the land that they lived on. Snakes are actually good for your yard. Just stay away from the area in which they live in. keep small children away as well. Hope I helped you.

Whether or not you grow Oleander in the yard depends on whether you have pets or young children. Oleander is highly toxic to people, pets and livestock, so if there is any chance of it being ingested, it is best avoided.
I live in ms and we have two oleander plants in our back yard. Our yard is bordered by a ditch that is full of snakes. our neighbors kill snakes in their yards all the time. I have lived in my home for 6 months and i have never seen a snake our yard. And I thank these plants for it!
