Drummer Joey Kramer came up with the name "Aerosmith" and his inspiration came from the pre-1970's novel entitled "Arrowsmith," a book that often appeared on his summer reading list in high school. He became fascinated with the name and wrote it on his school books. Since "Aerosmith" was the only name that the band all agreed on and liked, the band went with it.
