The Lily, symbol of virginity and purity. There is also a white day lily which only blooms during the time of the Assumption in mid-August and is known as the Assumption Lily among horticulturalists. The Lily is commonly used with Blessed Virgin Mary. St. Joseph is shown with a staff blossoming with lilies.

Another Answer

"Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these." Luke 12:27

The lilies are not concerned about their appearance and are quite pleased to accept what God has given them and simply be lilies. Yet the lily is among the most beautiful of flowers. They can do nothing to improve on what God has created. We should be like the lilies and not be preoccupied with how we look or how we dress. God created us in his image and to Him we are beautiful. Rather than centering our lives on looking nice externally to 'fit in' we should be more concerned with our soul. God cares little if we have the finest of clothing or the latest style of hair or makeup. God does care about the internal beauty of our soul. External beauty is fleeting but the eternity of our soul is forever.

A good role model to follow would be St. Rose of Lima. She was born beautiful but would do everything possible to avoid being externally attractive. She would smear her face with lye from ashes and hot chilis to mar the beauty and concentrated her life on beautifying her soul. We need not go through the extremes of Rose but we need to have a balance in our life and concentrate on the really important issues.

Of course not. Catholics consider Muslims unbelievers. All religious believers will consider themselves as true believers.
