OSHA also enforces "whistle blower" provisions of twenty (20) statutes, many of them not related to workplace health and safety.

To protect lives and collect fines and make money for the government and give people a job who can't seem to make a living on their own and need the government to protect them from the cruel world outside of government service. They also ensure that working environment such as construction sites, have the right safety procedures for their workplace and their workers. Without OSHA, a lot of companies will still be doing projects which are less safer than it is with OSHA rules and regulations. Complying with them doesn't really hurt a project but instead, it helps in promoting safety and even productivity

Aside from keeping the safety in the workplace, they were also able to see that workers with the education about the hazards at work tends to be more systematized at work and produces more work. specially when they avoid mishaps and accidents that can cause a lot of delays for the project

OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) is a federal government agency established in 1974. There are also 26 states that operate "state plans" for OSHA enforcement. These state agencies supersede the federal agency, but their regulations must be provide equal or greater employee protection than the federal agency regulations.

OSHA establishes regulations for employers to follow regarding workplace safety. In addition to these specific regulations, OSHA enforces the "general duty clause." The general duty clause simply states that employers are required to provide a workplace free from recognized safety and health hazards.

Employers should obtain information about which OSHA regulations apply to their workplace and then begin to implement a safety policy that addresses those issues. It is their responsibility to ensure the safety of the workers and the pedestrians and one way that they can do this is by following OSHA regulations.

OSHA can inspect any workplace. Upon inspection a search warrant may be required. Based upon the finding of the inspection, OSHA can fine employers $0 - $70,000 per violation. Fines are based upon the employers history of violations, the severity of the violation and other factors.

The main purpose for OSHA is to ensure that employers provide employees a place of employment free from recognized hazards. But OSHA also investigates whistle-blower complaints of discriminitation or retribution under some 20 different statutes, many not related to workplace safety.
