A stethoscope is a device that allows a doctor to hear the sounds of your heart. Essentially the sound is transmitted from either a diaphragm or a bell that is placed on the patient's chest and through tube that splits and travels to both ears of the doctor.

The doctor can use this stethoscope to hear all sorts of sounds, such as lung sounds, bowel sounds, blood vessel sounds, or even sounds of some joints.
