A nucleus is unstable when it has more than 83 protons or when the ratio of neutrons to protons is incorrect, so a stable nucleus would have to have 83 or less protons and the correct ratio.

What is produce by changes in nucleus of atoms?

NUCLEUS.Atomic energy is produced from changes within nucleus of an atom.

Why is a larger nucleus not as stable as a smaller nucleus?

A smaller nucleus is generally more stable. Below are some general rules: # (Except for really small nuclei) All stable nuclei contain a number of neutrons that is equal to or greater than the number of protons. # Nuclei with too few or too many neutrons is unstable. # If a nuclei has even numbers of nucleons, it's generally more stable. # Nuclei with "magic numbers" usually tend to be more stable.

Does an atom become most stable when trying to fill its nucleus?

It becomes most stable when its nucleus is filled, not when it is filling it.

How can you predict whether an isotope nucleus is likely to be stable?

You can not predict whether an isotope nucleus is likely to be stable. There is a lack of electrons in the nucleus creating a chemical change in the atom becoming stable.

How is a stable nucleus different to an unstable nucleus?

A stable nucleus is one which will not decay, whereas an unstable nucleus will decay at some point, which cannot be predicted as decay is a random process, by alpha or beta decay.

If an atom has two protons would it be stable?

The atoms having 2 protons only in nucleus is not stable but 2 protons with 2 neutron in Helium nucleus are very stable.

Why dont radioactive elements have a stable nucleus?

By definition. If it were stable, then it would not be radioactive.

How uranium nucleus become stable?

Being radioactive, uranium is not a stable element.

How does binding energy per nucleon effect the stability of a nucleus?

The greater the nuclear binding energy, the more stable the nucleus. Even numbers of nucleons also make the nucleus more stable.

Does The largest stable nucleus have 26 protons?

No. In fact the largest stable nucleus of any atom in it's non isotope form is Lead at 82 protons
