The stomach is the main organ in the digestive system where the amino acids and enzymes are released to break down the food. Any potentially dangerous liquids are passed into the liver to be 'dealt with'.
The stomach walls have very small holes so that only things needed like glucose can pass into the blood stream. The acid breaks down the molecules of the food so that they are small enough to pass through, and the roughage is then moved on to the intestine.
It Digests Your Food. Like When You Chew Your Food Then Swallow It, It Goes Down Your Esophogus [Which Is Part Of The Stomach], Then The Food Goes Through Your Intestines, Meanwhile Its Getting Digested. So That's Basically What Happens... Hope I Helped! Lol (:
The stomach has three functions in digestion as well as a major use in the immune system. In digestion it churns and mixes the food while at the same time acting as a storage bag so that great quantity of food does not hit the intestines too quickly. The other job in digestion is to produce pepsin and the acid environment for it to wok in. Finally it is usefull in the immune system because it destroys almost any germs that get into it. These germs are often sent from the respiratory system into the back of the throat where they are swallowed and sent to their doom in the stomach.
