One must take into account that during pregnancy, the white cell count normally is increased, and may have the characteristics of an infectious increase (PMN type, immature leucocytes in blood). All this usually means nothing - when this is combined with fever and/or other symptoms, it must be further evaluated. Also, keep in mind that a single wcc in a single blood test is not so useful as a series of blood tests over time, in order to estimate the wcc pattern (an increasing wcc requires the doctors attention)
