It means rock that was deposited in its current place after traveling via erosion. Ie a river sweeps through a canyon, slowly eroding away the sides. These bits of sides that erode off fall into the river and are carried a few miles away and then dropped off at a river bank, creating a deposit of sandstone rock, for example.
