Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere .Humidity is actually meant by relative humidity. There is also absolute humidity etc..Relative humidity is defined as the ratio of the partial pressure of water vapor in a parcel of air to the saturated vapor pressure of water vapour at a prescribed temperature.High humidity makes people feel hotter outside in the summer because it reduces the effectiveness of sweating to cool the body by reducing the evaporation of perspiration from the skin. Humidity is also greatly affected by intensity of solar radiation, altitude, wind exposure, cover and water status of soil.It is said that about 40% RH(relative humidity) is comfortable for human body.

The level of humidity in the air depends on two factors. (1) Temperature. Colder air holds less, because more humidity will condense into water. (2) Barometric pressure. The more pressure the atmosphere is under the less water vapor it can hold.

Humidity is largely a function of heat and pressure. Humidity is water vapor in the air. Heat drives water molecules into the air above the water. How many molecules are suspended depends on the heat of the air and the pressure against the water surface. More heat evaporates more water, up until the pressure of the air equals the pressure of the heat driven molecules out. A hot day can evaporate more water, but high enough pressure.

Humidity is determined by the amount of water vapor in the air. A high humidity occurs when the amount of water vapor is near the saturation point, and a low humidity occurs when the amount of water vapor is far from the saturation point.

The saturation point can be affected by temperature, elevation and atmospheric composition. A higher temperature and elevation (or rather, the lower air pressure associated with high elevations) raises the saturation point, and a lower temperature and elevation (or rather, the higher air pressures associated with high elevations) lowers the saturation point. However, note that lower temperatures can cause water to condense - which lowers the amount of water vapor in the air.

Humidity depends on the amount of moisture in the air. Relative humidity, however, also depends on air temperature.
