The verb "to nag" is to pester in a complaining or scolding manner. In modern use, it suggests a complaint that a necessary action has not been done or completed. It can also be self-directed psychologically.

Example : "His mother would nag him about mowing the lawn."

Example : "Doubts about the program continued to nag the scientist."

"Nag" is also used as a slang noun meaning a horse of low quality or value.

The word 'nag' is both a verb and a noun.

The noun 'nag' is a word for someone who is persistently fault-finding or continuously urging; a word for a horse that is old and unsuitable for work; a word for a person or a thing.

The noun form of the verb to nag is the gerund, nagging.
