A tab can help you separate multiple pages in one window. If you're using Firefox or Chrome, this feature is available from the get go. If you're using internet Explorer, it must be version 7.

There should be a + icon next to the last 'tab' in your window, this will open a new tab.

They act just like different windows, but its purpose is to reduce it to just one window.

Some shortcut keys to manage your tabs are:

Ctrl+T = Open a new tab

Ctrl+W = Close the current tab

Ctrl+Tab = Go to the next tab

Ctrl+Shift+Tab = Go to the previous tab

How can you make HTML links react differently if opened in a new window or tab by the user?

To answer my own question, simply said you can't capture the action of 'opening link in new tab'.The only options are:You can capture a right-click and a middle click. You can avoid opening in a new tab by using a span and style it to look like a link, instead of using an 'a' element. On loading the linked page, you can check the referrer. This may let you trace if the page was opened in a new tab.

Go to next open tab, start just a little from where you had started on previous tab, plow, hit save, close tab. go to first tab opened and start a little further from previous page, plow, hit save. What is the difference between a new tab and a new window?

There are always two options to go to new link. one is open in new tab and other is open in a new window. new tab is, the existing already opened tab would not close and will remain as it is open and new path or link or website will be open in new tab of browser. on the other hand a new window is, when anyone click on new path or link and a pop up small dialogue box type window come in front of existing page without closing that page from which we click that new link, called new window.
