Vinegar softens the meat and also adds flavor. The high acid content will chemically "cook" the meat a bit, too.

yes, however depending on what method of cooking you are using, also, if you are using some kind of glaze, this can mask the taste of vinegar, or indeed complement each other! Merry Xmas

How do you cut vinegar taste in salsa?

You might try using a little salt. I have found that salt gets your taste buds away from tasting the sour in lemon juice. Maybe it will work for vinegar too. Others on Answers.com have advised using sugar. Otherwise, just add more of your ingredients to the salsa.

How do you neutralize vinegar?

I think there is a way to do this. Vinegar is an acid, acetic acid to be precise. Try using some baking soda, a little bit at a time. You will see bubbles, a gas (actually carbon dioxide) forming as it neutralizes. You can use vinegar to remove urine smells or room odors

Does brown vinegar taste like white vinegar?

Vinegar is produced from alcohol using a vinegar culture. The color of the vinegar is based on what was used to make the vinegar and thus results in different flavors. For instance, beer tastes different from red wine which is again different from white wine. Which vinegar you use should be based on why you are using it and the quality factors, such as what it was made in, how long it aged, etc. More concern should be applied to these things than what color it is. White things aren't always bad or a result of bleaching.

Do you use cider vinegar in your pickles?

From a preservation (and safety) standpoint, any commercial vinegar is the same as any other. All must be sold with a minimum of 5% acidity. The reason to choose Cider vinegar, or any other flavor vinegar, is simply taste. Errr, Taste, and the recipe. Personally, for Bread & Butter pickles, Cider is just fine. But when I use Grandmother Hoskins Salt Dill recipe -- well Cider is to harsh with all that salt. I use a home-made wine vinegar because it is much sweeter. I recommend taste testing. Mix up a very small test batch, and using different vinegars, taste the brine straight. If it turns out that you like pure distilled white vinegar, then more power to you. If you like 45 year old Aged Italian Balsamic vinegar, then more power to your wallet.

Can you use balsamic vinegar to replace lemon juice in cheesecake?

You could, but I wouldn't unless your going after a whole new taste treat. I would not recommend using balsamic vinegar, unless it was white balsamic known as condimente in some circles

How do you reduce vinegar taste in salsa?

Collard greens on their own don't have a vinegar taste; they have a sharpness but vinegar is usually added to them to enhance the flavor. Just add less vinegar or try using a better quality vinegar as opposed to white or red wine. If you don't like the sharpness of the greens, you can cook them with a little bit of sugar (very little...about a teaspoon per 3-litre pot) which will reduce the sharpness a little.

How do you prevent pork from having a vinegar taste after soaking in vingar?

Well, that's pretty much the point of soaking it. Maybe you could try a different vinegar. Let me recommend using either malt or balsamic vinegar in your marinade. Cut back on the amount of vinegar and add more Worcestershire sauce. A little more molasses might help, too.

Cleaning siemens coffee machine using descaler?

DO NOT USE THAT MUCH VINEGAR! Put a tiny bit of vinegar in the carafe and fill carafe the rest of the way with water. Run that vinegar/water through machine. Using another container, fill machine with plain water and run that through. Repeat until the vinegar taste is gone. If you do not run lots of plain water through the machine after, your coffee will taste like...um...disgusting! Also, use a spell-checker before improving this posting. ************** To clean hard water deposits from a coffee maker use distilled white vinegar. You may need to use as much as a gallon if the scale buildup is really bad. Fill clean coffee pot one half full of vinegar and run through machine as if making coffee. Repeat this process several times using fresh vinegar until it comes out clear. Do this once a week and your maker will work much better. ************** Use citric acid or LEMON JUICE CONCENTRATE instead of vinegar. It cleans just as well but doesn't leave the funky odor that vinegar does. You can run enough water to get rid of the vinegar taste, but the odor will linger for days or weeks. Much better to use lemon juice concentrate (no pulp!!) or one of the commercial products like the one available from Starbucks.

How do you make a balsamic vinegar dressing using garlic?

Mix 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar, 1/2 cup olive oil, 1 tablespoon dijon mustard, and 2 cloves of minced garlic. Add salt and pepper to taste. This is one of my favorite salad dressings! You can adjust the vinegar/oil ratio to suit your tastes.
