Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

and the power,

and the glory,

for ever and ever.

Amen.

The Lord's prayer asks for Grace and Forgiveness from our Lord in heaven.

Answer

The Lord said "In this manner shall ye pray" He then goes on to tell us how to pray by giving an example of what we now call the Lords Prayer. However most religions in the Christian world have take His prayer as meaning, this is what you must say, when it is only an example of what to say. What He is really advising is in what manner should we pray. 1. Address our Heavenly Father 2. Thank Him for the blessings He has given us. 3. Ask Him to grant us those things we are in need of if it be His will. and 4. Thank Him in the name of Jesus Christ. It is as simple as that. So the Lords Prayer is but an example and not a prayer that must be said word for word.

Like most Christian clergy who preach but do not explain.

The Lord's prayer does not have a message. It is a prayer, given to us by Christ himself as a conversation with God. Each line of the prayer has a meaning all on its own.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those that trespass against us.

Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,

For ever and ever.

Amen.
