to monitor the trades of the world to see if any one is doing something stupid and also according to www.wto.org: (it would be best to know what their functions are straight from their own site) The WTO has as its main function the administration of a number of multilateral trade agreements, the objectives of which are to reduce existing trade barriers and to expand international trade and economic development, growing emphasis being placed on trade as an essential factor in the development of less-developed countries. Trade in goods, trade in services and trade related intellectual property and investment, trade and environment questions, trade in agricultural goods are some of the issues the Secretariat is dealing with. The WTO conducts examinations of members' trade policies, and economic research in support of its activities. It administers a dispute settlement mechanism for trade conflicts.

The World Trade Organization (WTO) is the only global international organization dealing with the rules of trade between nations. At its heart are the WTO agreements, negotiated and signed by the bulk of the world's trading nations and ratified in their parliaments. The goal is to help producers of goods and services, exporters, and importers conduct their business.

How are MNCs and the WTO similar?

MNCs (multinational corporations) and the WTO (World Trade Organization) are similar in that they both operate across borders. MNCs engage in business activities in multiple countries, while the WTO is an international organization that promotes and regulates global trade. Both MNCs and the WTO play a significant role in facilitating the movement of goods, services, and investments on a global scale.

Do International organizations play a positive role in the global system explain?

I think your question needs to be a little more specific. International Organizations can be broken down into NGO's (non-profits and international corporations), IGO's (sovereign states, UN, WTO). A positive and/or a negative role will depend on who's asking. I grew up in Brazil and back then the IMF was a villain, ask an American and the answer wil be the opposite. The same goes for the UN, the WTO or Coca-Cola. They do play a positive role but they also have negative roles. What specifically are you looking for?
