∙ 9y agoIt stands for Confraternity of Chrsitian Doctine, which implemented a uniform religious education program about 50 years ago. Our programs were changed simple to "religious education" program awhile back, but CCD was so ingrained that the CCD tag stuck, even though now obsolete.

Contemporary religious education or Sunday school in many Catholic parishes in the U.S. is still called "CCD" even though it no longer has any connection to the Confraternity.
