A pulse rate chart shows the maximum beats based on age and heart rate per minute. A pulse rate chart also shows the healthy heart rate zone and where your heart rate needs to be for weight management, aerobic zone, anaerobic zone, and red-line zones.

A pulse rate determines how fast the heart is beating blood around the body. The bad-doom sound that you hear or feel is your heart-pumping and retracting and expanding. Your pulse rate increases when you move or do physical activity because you need more oxygen supplied to your muscles. To get this oxygen to your muscles your heart has to beat faster to keep the supply from dwindling. To oxygenate this blood, more has to pass through your lungs, using up more oxygen so you have to breathe faster. This is why it is harder to breathe when you are doing physical activity.

It tells you how hard your heart is working. If you have just finished running a race, 150 beats per minute is to be expected. If you are lying in bed, 150 bpm means something is very wrong.
