The Pyramids never represented hope, strictly speaking, nor we they tombs for pharaoh. The reason we know this is because not one pharaoh has even been discovered in the pyramid. This is a chronological theory that originated around the 17th century through Explorers that were funded by European Royalty to satisfy the Dogmas of The Religious Orthodoxies.
The fact is that most pharaohs were all unearthed in The Valley of the Kings some 300 miles to the south of the Great Pyramids.
Pyramids, historically have always represents the trinity in all things, because all creation happen in triplicity. It is a very intricate and detailed discussion as to why, but that is why triangles have had special veneration.
The word pyramid itself means fire in the middle. Pyra / o = fire & mid = middle, i.e. fire in the middle. It doesn't mean fire in the gross from that we see it in the world, but rather the subtle fiery generation located in all things phenomenal, that is the 'life force' of the cosmos. There is really ALOT more to say about Pyramids, but that kind of the jist. Hope that helps a litte.

The Mayan pyramids represent as a god house. In their case they call it the Sacrifice House. The Maya believed that the gods would give them good fourtune.Sacifice was basically what represents the Mayan pyramids.
Egyptian's believed that their pharaoh would be reincarnated as a Horus or Ra the rulers of the heavens, and they also believed that the pyramid was a platform so that the spirit would flee through the tip of the pyramid and be released into the heavens. The antechamber was always full with riches, scrolls and statues because it represented the power that the pharaoh would have when he reached the heavens. A "good" Egyptian pyramid had four corners that faced directly into the 4 cardinal directions and 2 ventilation shafts that branched off from the Royal Chamber and faced towards the East and the West, so the pharaohs body could watch his spirit or "baa" rise with Ra every morning and watch it set every evening. The Egyptian's placed offerings in the chambers most days, so that they could appease the gods and pray for their pharaoh to speak on their part in the council of Gods. The pyramids were the jewel of Egypt, and therefore it is very sad that during the Fall of Egypt the pyramids were stripped of their treasures.
