It's a pending thing, so sometimes it will have a really large zapping noise, or a hissing like electricutional noise. See i've had lightning hit near me twice and both had those kind of noises.

fire itself does not make noise, fire from burning objects or gas causes reactions which cause noise. Example, burning wood, the wood burns to embers and cracks and boils sap. which all causes noise.

It makes crackling noises and sometimes it pops.

It can also sound like wind if it is moving. an example from a book im making. "The sound of the fire reaches her ears as if a crackling denominic wind intended on over taking them!"
