Sorry that this is incomplete, but one of his many influences, was himself. He saw the progression of the Soviet Union (Animal Farm), he believed greatly in Socialism, and saw problems with society and wrote about them. He was less "influenced" by other authors, than he just saw the problems, and wrote about them. He was a journalist.
