The big difference is blended vs. single malt.

Blended - This term means that the scotch is a blend from many distilleries in Scotland. The big brands are: Johnny Walker, Chivas Regal, J&B and Cutty Sark.

Single Malt - This term means that the scotch was distilled at only one distillery in Scotland. The big brands are: Macallen, Laphroaig, Glenfiddich and Glenlivet.

There are many variables including water quality, but many scotch's flavors come from the type of cask used, such as Sherry or the popular Oak.

What is the difference between bourbon and scotch?

They're different styles of whisk(e)y. Bourbon is made primarily in the US while scotch can only be made in Scotland. Scotches have different flavor profiles depending on which part of Scotland the whisky is distilled, but should still have a smoky flavor. Bourbon usually tastes sweeter in constrast.

What scotch would you recommend given that I really like rich scotches like the Balvenie?

Try Glenfiddich 15yo or 18yo. The new Balvenie 17yo Rum Cask is also out if you liked and tried the 17yo Sherry Oak.

What is the price now if you bought a twelve years old Chivas Regal with seventy five CL scotch whiskey in year nineteen eighty?

It will probably remain unchanged. Scotches and blended whiskeys only age in barrels, they quit again once they are bottled.

Does a bottle of Drambuie have a expiration date?

Yes, but that depends entirely on how much oxygen it is exposed to. If you leave the bottle open, it will expire faster, whereas it will take much longer if you leave caps on your bottles. You can tell if it has expired by its cloudy appearance. Some of the more flavourful scotches will lose their strong taste but on weaker, more evenly blended scotches, this is sometimes difficult to detect. As an anecdote, my personal collection has over 15 bottles that have been opened for 2 years, with many others opened for less time, and not one has expired yet. So, raise a glass and relax!

How To Split Fiberglass Columns For Elegant Decor Within The Home?

Fiberglass columns can add very elegant and sophisticated touches to a room. In fact, many homeowners have hired professionals to install fiberglass columns in their home for the Victorian look that is coming back. One method that is used to place this type of design in the home is to split fiberglass columns so that they can be attached to walls and entrance ways that have a flat design. Here is a simple guide to help you create what others spend a great deal of money paying professionals to do for them. 1. You will need to attach your fiberglass column to a sawhorse or table using scotches. If you are using a table with scotches, the scotches need to be wrapped with a towel or other cloth material to create a cushion to avoid scratches on your fiberglass columns. 2. Scotches should be placed snuggly against your fiberglass column to ensure that the column will not move during the actual cutting process. 3. You column will need to be cut evenly. To figure out where your balance point is to cut the column you will first need to determine the middle point on the top base and bottom base of your column using a measuring tape. Mark the middle point at each end and attach a chalk line from the top marking to the bottom. Making sure that the chalk line is tight, snap your line. You will need to do the same for the other side using the same method that you just used. 4. Using a circumference measuring tape, measure the entire distance around the column to determine the point of the bottom line. Place a mark at the bottom of the column to coincide with your measurements. 5. When you have made both of your chalk line on the column, set the appropriated depth setting on your saw blade to guarantee that it will pass through the bead cleanly. 6. Using protective equipment such as safety glasses and gloves, begin sawing from one base end to the other on the column. You will need to use a circular saw that has an abrasive blade installed to complete this project.

The Brewer's Art Restaurant in Baltimore, MD?

My co-workers and I like to head to The Brewer's Art, 1106 N. Charles Street Baltimore, to have a few beers and a great meal after work. The selection of beer, wine, and scotches is the best I've seen in the city. The menu changes seasonally and always has exceptional seafood, fish, meat, pasta and vegetarian dishes. The homemade desserts are sinfully good. The Brewer's Art has a lively atmosphere and the service is good.

What do you call 7up and scotch drink?

Manhattan Sorry, wrong... A Manhattan is whiskey, vermouth, and bitters. Scotch whiskey and 7-Up, which aren't typically mixed, is called a "Scotch & 7" to differentiate from the standard "7 and 7", which is Seagrams Seven Crown whiskey (or any whiskey) and 7-Up. Most Scotches are typically too "full bodied" to mix well with citrus drinks, but some people will even mix scotch and grape soda.
