What happened to excedrin migraine pills?

The pharmaceutical company Novartis issued a recall of Excedrin, Bufferin, NoDoz and Gas-X over concerns that some bottles of the over-the-counter medications contain tablets of other Novartis products, perhaps including the powerful prescription painkillers Percocet, Endocet, Opana and Zydone, or contain tablets that are broken or chipped.

Recalled lots include select bottle sizes of Excedrin and NoDoz with expiration dates of Dec. 20, 2014, or earlier and some bottle sizes of Bufferin and Gas-X with expiration dates of Dec. 20, 2013, or earlier.

A comment. I have been taken Excedrin (most often its generic substitute) for over 30 years. The only pill that would relieve my headache! I have not had an "Excedrin-like" headache since Excedrin was pulled off the shelves. I still get headaches. But of the considerably more mild type. I used to get up in the middle of the night and drive to a local drugstore to get my "fix." I always knew the danger of a kind of physical addiction to this caffeine-laced pill. Now it's - for me - confirmed.

Excedrin is a pain reliever, which of course contains aspirin as well as a few other chemicals. It is commonly used to treat severe headaches and migraines. There are several different types of Excedrin that the company Novartis makes.

The issue which you may be referring to was probably the 2012 recall that Novartis made in response to certain packaging issues where broken or mislabeled pills were found in the container. Additionally, Excedrin, like any medicine containing aspirin can cause extensive damage to the liver (hepatoxic) when taken with alcohol.

I live in Michigan and there is no Excedrin on the shelves any where in any store. Could explain this to me? Thank you
