∙ 12y agoProspero is a magician who used to be Duke of Milan. Many years ago he was deposed and set adrift with his baby daughter in a leaky boat which he managed to get to a small island somewhere in the Meditteranean Sea. On the island he meets and enslaves Ariel, a spirit of the air, and Caliban, a half-man half-fish whose mother was the former ruler of the island.
The brother of Prospero who deposed him and the King of Sicily, together with Sicily's brother and son, are returning from the wedding of Sicily's daughter. Prospero causes a storm to wreck their ship and cast them ashore on his island.
Sicily's son Ferdinand is washed ashore seperately. He meets Prospero's daughter Miranda and they fall in love. Prospero ultimately approves their marriage.
The others get bamboozled by Ariel's magic so they are wandering around hopelessly.
A couple of drunks from the ship also come ashore and befriend Caliban, who talks them into plotting to kill Prospero and to take his place.
Prospero foils the plot and eventually gets everyone together to tell them that Miranda and Ferdinand are going to get hitched and that their boat didn't sink after all, so they can go back to Milan. Prospero chucks his magic books and staff away before he leaves, and frees Ariel.
