Answer 1

The Armenian Genocide was a mass killing of 1.5 million Armenians starting April 24th, 1915. I know that this actually happened because my great grandmother was in it and survived it, and is alive to this day. People try to deny that it was ever a Genocide, and even deny that it ever happened, especially the Turks. I have proof from my entire family because they experienced it and survived it.

Answer 2

1.5 million Armenians were Massacred in the Ottoman Empire by Turkish soldiers led by a group called the Young Turks. The Young Turk party was led by three brothers, Talaat Pasha, Djemal Pasha, and Enver Pasha. They want ed to create a Pan-Turkic Empire. The marched the Armenians through deserts on Death Marches, raped young women, shot them, burned them alive, starved them, and even bayonet ted pregnant mothers. Turkey denies it's occurrence to this day.

About 1.5 million Armenians were systematically exterminated by the Ottoman Turks between 1915 and 1917 and there were further massacres in 1922. This crime was committed on historical Armenian lands where they lived for thousands of years.

The Ottoman Empire, under the leadership of the Young Turks, massacred the native Armenians from their homelands under the veil of World War I. The Armenians were unable to defend themselves as they weren't even allowed to bear arms due to the fact they were a Christian minority. It is worth noting that several hundred thousand Pontiac Greeks and Assyrians were also victims of the Ottoman's extermination of the christian minorities of the region.

The Ottoman Turks have destroyed much of the incriminating records of their heinous actions in an effort to conceal the extermination, though several reports and documents have been surfacing as international scholars probe Turkey's archives. Many books have also been written on the subject, with the most popular being written by citizens of Turkey - Orhan Pamuk even won the Nobel Prize for Literature for his book on the Armenian Genocide! Although the Turkish government to this day continues to deny the Genocide, many citizens of Turkey privately accept and discuss the Armenian Genocide. Public discussion, on the other hand, is a violation of Turkey's Article 301, whereby those who insult "Turkishness" are subject to imprisonment.

The Armenian diaspora is a very devoted and powerful group, and will continue to seek acknowledgement of the genocide by Turkey and America. However, the Armenian Genocide is an openly recognized chapter in history worldwide.

----

In 1915 the Ottoman Turkish government claimed that some Armenian units in the army had gone over to the enemy side. As far as I'm aware, most historians would accept that some Armenians had deserted to the Russians, but on nothing like the scale alleged.

Enver Talaat and other Turkish politicians had all Armenians rounded up and sent on a very long march - from Eastern Anatolia to camps in the Syrian desert in the blazing heat of spring and summer, 1915. They were given insufficient food and drink, and during the march they were frequently attacked by Kurdish tribesmen. By 1917 most had perished and those still in camps were killed.

After World War 1 the Turks expelled nearly all Christians in 1922, and most of the remaining Armenians were expelled and many were killed. Many of those who were expelled or escaped settled in California.

In all, in 1915-17 and 1922 an estimated total of about 1.5 million Armenians were slaughtered by the Turks.

To this day the Turkish government vehemently denies this act of genocide.

-------

In the Turkish view, Armenians in Eastern Ottoman Empire joined in ranks of Russian, in south Ottoman Empire they joined ranks of France, in central Ottoman Empire they made guerrilla attacks. This triggered a civil war between Turks and Armenians. Many Armenians were murderred in a barbaric way and their bodies were disfigured, heads were choped off and had been displayed, women were raped and many girls threw themselves in the water to drown so they wont be harmed or raped, and babies were killed.
the Armenian genocide happened in 1915, April 24. first the Ottoman Empire took all the smart people such as lawyers, doctors, engineers,... and killed them off separately so the other Armenians would be helpless in times of need. the they deported all the Armenians including men, women, children, infants, and elders. they took them to the Der Zhor desert and starved, tortured, and devastated them until they reached a point were they could no longer withstand and died. 1.5 MILLION Armenians were killed and the Turks have been denying it ever since. You probably think turkey is telling the truth and the Armenian genocide is no big deal, but what if it was your great grandparents or you or your parents who had to go through this. watching your own parents get murdered in front of your eyes, starving so mush your bones show and your stomach bulges out because it is swelling from hunger. Having to walk through a desert while being whipped and tortured. well, think about it. if it was you would you take no for an answer? or would you fight for your rights so turkey would admit the genocide. if this has touched your hearts please join us as we fight for our rights every day, and especially on April 24th. Do you know why America doesn't admit the genocide? because turkey is threatening and blackmailing America that they will lose their airbase and oil they have in turkey if they admit the genocide. if turkey truly thought it wasn't true why would they try so hard to have America not admit it?

In 1915, when the Armenian Genocide occurred there were many Armenians living in certain regions of the Ottoman Empire, which are currently parts of Turkey. Because of conflicts of religion and also because the Ottoman Turkish government was afraid the Armenians may possibly become too powerful or align with the Russians against the Ottomans and weaken Turkish power, the Young Turks movement (a political party) decided to exterminate the Armenians. The Armenians having lived for years in these regions were not expecting an attack from the Turks. Since this was also during the World War I the Turks first killed the leaders of the Armenian community, then eliminating the men and older boys by telling them that they had to fight in the army, taking them to a remote area, and killing them. After that they killed the rest of the population, women, children, and the elderly by making them march the desert without food nor water, and periodically killing random groups of Armenians in very gory ways. In this manner over 1.5 million Armenians were killed, making up two-thirds of the population. By 1917, the majority of the violence ended since almost all Armenians had been forced out of Ottoman Anatolia and into Syria, Iraq, the Soviet Union, or even further away.

It must be noted that the current Turkish government, which came to power as a direct result of actions by the Young Turks, has still not admitted the part of the Young Turks or the Ottoman Army in the Armenian genocide and continuously deny that this atrocity happened.

Its a genocide. Though reports vary, most sources agree that there were about 2 million Armenians in the Ottoman Empire at the time of the massacre. By the early 1920s, when the massacres and deportations finally ended, some 1.5 million of Turkey's Armenians were dead, with many more forcibly removed from the country

The Armenians, along with the Pontic Greeks, and Assyrians, were subject to a GENOCIDE in the Ottoman Empire during the years of 1915-1917.

The genocide was very well-organized. The first group attacked and murdered were the Armenian intellectuals in Istanbul, which were the very people who would be most attached to the Ottoman State and willing to argue against independence in their communities. Next, entire villages were expunged of the majority-Armenian, majority-Greek, and majority-Assyrian inhabitants and the names of the cities completely altered to create "theoretical" Turkish names in a process called Turkification. The Armenians were marched to Deir ez-Zur in the Syrian desert without food and water (the Pontic Greeks and the Assyrians were marched to other places). There were numerous massacres and concentration camps along the route to Deir ez-Zur. Roughly 1.5 million Armenians were killed and over half of the Armenian homeland was depopulated of Armenians.
