The key distinguishing characteristic of the telephone was its ability to transmit the voice directly from speaker to listener. If the telephone had never been invented and we were left with communications like the telegraph, where the communication had to be encoded into dots and dashes, it is possible that some form of automated coding (keyboard entry, telex) would have been developed to a greater extent than it was, and something resembling digital communications might have come along sooner than it did, but later than the telephone actually did. On the other hand, the telephone was such an integral part of the advances that were being made in the late 19th century, that it seems likely that it would have been developed by someone else if Bell and his rivals had not done so. A word truly without the telephone would have to be a world in which electricity was not developed at all.
Then people would have to find some other way of being pretentious d-bags.
There were other cell phones and had been for many years.
Is it convenient to have a cell phone? Sure.
Is the iPhone a good cell phone? I suppose it's okay.
Is the iPhone so much of an improvement over previous cell phones that it literally transformed society? No. No, it is not. It's just a cell phone, one that's probably overpriced at that. The world would be substantially the same as it is today without iPhones.
we would live happily ever after! jk
We would do what we did before cell phones and that was use a pay phone or find a land line to use.
no one will be where they are right now
Something else would have been invented to make it easy for people to communicate.
There would not be any info about the solar system and a telescope would not have been invented ( I Think) No one would have invented gravity & then where would you be ? (Joke !) I think the telescope was Galileo, it pre dates Newton.
Then the industrial revolution would not have happened and we would all still be living in an agrarian economy.
No, in Lincoln's day the telephone had not been invented.
it wasn't a discovery it was a invention and it was important because it made communication a lot shorter. If it wasn't invented somethings we have today that use sound waves to transfer a voice wouldn't had been invented or it would be a lot different. If the telephone had never been invented consider the following: You would still be sending a U.S. Postal message just to communicate with someone, or visiting. You would have no instant control of nearly every aspect of your life that you do not even consider today. You would not have been able to ask ANY questions such as you have because there would be no internet (Internet started with dial up modems.
The light bulb and telephone were invented during this time.
It was invented before WWI so probably around 1900-1910.
A lot of things woodent have been invented. A lot of things wouldn't have been invented. A lot of things would not have been invented.
true
The universe could have remainded unknown
telephone Elisha Gray may have been the real inventor and Bell stole the idea!
Pretty much nothing happened before the telephone, other than Alexander Graham Bell wandering around, going up to complete strangers, asking, "Yo - can I borrow your telephone?" And people answered, "Sorry, man, haven't been invented yet". So he said to himself, "Self, you gotta do something about this." Also, before the telephone there was also the Big Bang, the extinction of the dinosaurs, and the birth of Bea Arthur.
