The moon can't touch the sun, because the sun is over 93,000,000 miles away, while the moon is much closer. However, if the moon did somehow touch the sun, it would just melt because the sun's intense heat would be too much for any material known to man.

The Moon does not orbit the Sun; it orbits the Earth. The Earth orbits the Sun.

How is the line of nodes related to solar and lunar eclipses?

A "node" is a point where the Moon passes through the ecliptic plane (Earth's orbit around the sun). Because the moon's orbital plane around the Earth is inclined 5 degrees with respect to Earth's orbit around the sun, the Moon's orbit only intersects the Earth's solar orbit every 6 months (approximately). Solar eclipses occur when the Moon touches a node on the line of nodes between the Earth and the Sun. A lunar eclipse occurs when the opposite happens - the moon touches the ecliptic plane when the Earth is between it and the sun.

What happens when the moon passess between the sun an earth?

What type of moon happens when The moon and sun are on the same side of Earth?

A solar eclipse can only happen during a new moon?

That is because the Moon has to be between the Sun and the Earth, to cover the Sun from our point of view. When this happens, we see the dark side of the Moon - i.e., it is new moon. That is because the Moon has to be between the Sun and the Earth, to cover the Sun from our point of view.
