This may mean that you've been kicked off the waiting list, probably because you did not keep them up-to-date with your address or other pertinent information. Depending on the rules of the Housing Authority, every six months or so, they send you a slip to fill out and return to them in order to maintain their waiting list. If you do not send back this form, or if you do not update them with your address to which they should mail any forms, then they will purge you from the waiting list. Please note that simply giving them a phone call to do this is not enough: you need to either mail it or fax it to them, or, depending upon availability, you may be able to do this online.

Are the waiting lists open at a specific area Housing Authority?

I posted this question so that it would have an answer to the questions most people ask on this forum. There is no way of knowing what Housing Authority has a waiting list open or when they will open. This is because the housing authorities are required to publish an article in the newspaper of their area to allow the public to know that the waiting list is open. And public housing authorities do not give notices too far in advance that a waiting list will open. In addition to the answer provided above, the location of the country must be considered, also.

Is the section 8 application form started in fl?

This question is vague. If you're asking if there is Section 8 in Florida, the answer is yes: Section 8, now known as Housing Choice Voucher Program, is everywhere in the United States, per federal (HUD) regulations. If you're asking if there are any voucher programs open in Florida to apply, there may be or there may be a waiting list, which may or may not be open. The housing choice voucher program is administered by local or regional Housing authorities. These housing authorities, most of which administer the housing choice voucher programs, have their own set of rules by which people can apply for housing assistance. In most cases Housing authorities have a waiting list. When that waiting list reaches its capacity -- this is typically most of the time -- the waiting list is closed and remains closed until funding is received to assist more families. Some housing authorities have a d lottery system, by which they will open up the waiting list on a certain date and collect names of potential applicants. Out of a certain number of applicants who do place their names on the list, only a few names are accepted -- the rest are purged. Many Housing authorities prioritize the waiting lists to people who fit certain categories, such as the elderly, disabled, veterans, our families with children. As soon as the person's name comes up on the waiting list -- this typically is about five years for a Housing Authority in a popular jurisdiction -- the family is contacted by the Housing Authority to further proceed in processing their application. When a waiting list is open the Housing Authority is required by federal law to publish such an opening to their local news media, typically the local newspaper. Oftentimes you can check their website to see if they're waiting lists are open. If the waiting list is open, there will be instructions given on how to place your name on it -- usually a time, place or phone number, and a certain time range on when to contact them.

Is there an efficient way of performing a nationwide search to determine areas or cities that are currently accepting section 8 housing applications?

Good question: this is how I was able to find section 8 housing. The only way to find section 8 housing (called a Housing Choice Voucher Program) is to continue to search Housing Authorities' web sites and seek which ones have openings for their waiting lists. There is no such thing as a central housing authority, though there are many housing authorities that cover several areas within the jurisdiction, known as regional housing authorities. And unlike sex offender registries, there is no central or nationwide housing authority search to see which ones have openings for the waiting lists. Just keep on trying and I'm sure it will work. It worked for me!

What is the website for the Section 8 housing authority?

Generally speaking you cannot apply online for a section 8 voucher from HUD (US Department of Housing and Urban Development). There is a HUD office in most cities. Federal law states that everyone must be given an equal chance to have their name put on the waiting list. Those who use computers and Internet access seem to have an advantage over those who can't, making it unfair for the latter. Your local housing authority probably has a website in which you can look up their procedures for putting your name on the waiting list. However you can apply at as many housing authorities as you wish. In addition many housing authorities will have forms that you can download off of their web site to print, fill out, and mail or fax to the Housing Authority.

Can you keep your section 8 voucher in nc if you get a felony?

It depends on the specific circumstances and the policies of the housing authority. Generally, a felony conviction can negatively impact your eligibility for Section 8 housing. However, some housing authorities may allow individuals with felony convictions to retain their voucher if certain conditions are met, such as completing rehabilitation programs or demonstrating good behavior. It is best to contact your local housing authority for accurate and specific information regarding your situation.

Is section eight open in fl yet?

Florida, like every other state in the United States, has a multitude of Housing Authorities distributed throughout, and the section 8 program is administered by those Housing Authorities. Each Housing Authority has its own rules by which people apply for this program. Most likely there will be a waiting list fact, if open, will take about five years or more, for your name to come up on it before they will process your application further.
