Instead of your shot going to your heart and being spread throughout your entire body, the shot will get shoved into your hand and no where else.
You will feel a warm feeling flow up your arm to your hand. It feels quite pleasant at first...right before the feeling changes to agony! It will hurt incredibly, and relief will only come in the form of your swollen hand being too numb to feel any more pain.
If this is the first time you missed a vein and hit an artery, chances are you'll be fine. The swelling will go down in about an hour, and it will stop hurting. Hitting an artery will cause tissue damage and tissue death, but it will heal on its own as long as you're in relatively good health.
Don't panic, but if the pain or the swelling don't go away, seek immediate medical attention. People have lost limbs because of missed shots, and if there is any doubt about whether it's healing on its own (you'll know in the first 30-60 minutes) the sooner you can get to a doctor in the emergency room, the better.
It is not easy to do by accident, but when it happens YOU KNOW IT. Instead of a flash-back of dark red blood when you pull back to register your hit it will push the plunger back on it's own with bright red blood. IF you managed to push the dose in (remember the blood is going into your needle not away from it) your arm may blow up like a balloon. The rush is not even that much more intense. My recommendation is, do not even try this. Do not even think about it. It has destroyed many people already.
artery
Because veins go directly to the heart whereas the artery's go around the body before going to the heart. When it reaches the heart it is distributed to where it is needed.

there is no such animal as an artery vein.... you have artery and you have veins... no vessel is both, unless used in a CABG.
The left and right renal arteries and veins branch off from the abdominal aorta.
From the main vein the blood enters the right artery which will then pump into the right artery next right vertical will pump the net into the lungs. After passing through the lungs they will enter the left artery the veins the left artery pump the blood into the left
