Normally, raccoons are nocturnal but may be abroad sometimes during the day. When young are born in the spring it can still be quite chilly at night so females will leave during the warmer hours to forage for food so that they can stay with their kits at night to warm them,
Raccoons generally emerge only at night but it is not unusual to see them active during the day. If food is scarce they might need to forage during the day as well as night. If a female's den is threatened she might move he kits during daylight hours.
Raccoons are attracted to food smells such as garbage cans or pet food left out as well as gardens and fruit trees. They are also attracted to crawl spaces under homes and attics that are not secured. Secure your home and do not leave pet food out and make sure garbage cans can not be opened. Once the attractions are gone, raccoons will move on.
It is not unusual for raccoons to be abroad during the day. Perhaps they could nit find enough food at night and have to forage during the day to get their fill. Maybe they know you feed your dog or cat during the day and want to beat your pet to the dinner table. If a female feels her den of young ones is in danger, she may move them to a new location during the day. There are many reasons. If a raccoon is out during the day and behaving strangely, however, do not approach the animal as it could be rabid.
It can mean one or several things.1.) Your roof is not secured to prevent entry of raccoons.
2.) Raccoons have learned to use a pet door or even how to open a regular door.
3.) They are looking for food.
4.) They are searching for a den in which to raise their young.
If a raccoon is out durning the day it is rabid you should stay away from it and contact somebody the raccoon will attack
Quote from the Related Link: "Raccoons are nocturnal, although they are sometimes active during the daytime, especially on cloudy days and in the spring."
it means you have somthing that attracts them like garbage and dead stuff and probably like the smell of your house
it is because racoons are nocturnal. Hey, but who knows you could.
Nothing! It is not unusual for raccoons to forage for food sometimes during the day.
Raccoons should be somewhat shy, and run from humans if approached (though, as with any other animal, they may fight when cornered). A raccoon should only be out at night, for they are nocturnal creatures (which means that they hunt and are active at night). If you see a raccoon out in daylight, you should get away from it. A raccoon out in broad daylight is often rabid, therefore you must keep away!
Not always but it is one sign to watch for.
No a raccoon is not a canine. A raccoon is a procyonid.
No, the eye of a raccoon (or any other animal, for that matter) does not glow in the night. It's an optical trick that makes the eyes of animals appear to glow in the dark, and it's related to the method used to photo graph them. See the related question below for more information.
The dog would need to see a vet urgently.
Coatis, unlike their cousin the raccoon. are diurnal. They are active during daylight hours and sleep at night. It is not unusual for them to nap occasionally during the day, however.
For climbing down a tree headfirst—an unusual ability for a mammal of its size—a raccoon rotates its hind feet so they are pointing backwards.

Yes they can, they can see perfectly well in daylight. But they prefer to hunt at night, not during the day time.
Europe is not as well known for its unusual animals but it does have its fair share of them. The long ear alpine bat, the raccoon dog, the marbled polecat and the saiga.
Bats tend not to venture out in the daylight as there is too great a risk of predators (birds, cats etc). However, it has been known for some bats to fly out in the daylight but this is unusual
Fog is are low lying clouds. You can still see clouds in daylight.
The raccoon has its own distinctive footprint unlike that of any other animal. See th image above of a raccoon's paw.
There is no subspecies called the pygmy raccoon. See this link.
