What if there's no God?

There is a God. How do you think you were created? Monkeys?? Ha! Evolution takes billions of years to go into effect, the world is only approx 2 billion years old. A ape from a human would take much longer than 2 billion years. So if there wasn't a God we wouldn't be where we are today.

Then we're all screwed. Answer: Pretty much nothing would change. "Good" people wouldn't suddenly reach for a bag of kittens to munch on, kids wouldn't toss their moms off cliffs, and your grandmother wouldn't run off with the milkman if here was a sudden irrefutable proof that there was no god(s).

Buddhists, a group that does not believe in god(s) and gets along just fine, feel that the ultimate nature of people is good. Left to their own devices, Buddhists say, people tend towards goodness. The only problem comes if your view of the human race, or yourself, is that people only are held in restraint from doing horrible things by the always present CCTV of the god(s) and the fear of eternal punishment for wrong doing. In this view people who now feed the poor, tend the sick would stop doing this as there is no deity to bribe by a show of good works. Much of the advances in the world (medicine, food. travel, comfort, music, writing) comes from secular activity. None of this would change in the absence of a deity

If there is no afterlife there is no problem. If you think of the 15 billion years t the Universe existed when you weren't there you will realize that it didn't bother you at all. The 15 to 390 billion years after death won't bother you any more or less than that initial period.

The Beatle, John Lennon imagined many things that we could do without - and no religion too. If there was no religion, there would be less war, less prejudice and more harmony in the world.

Then after death, you body will return to its consituant parts, ready to become food for new lifeforms.

The only thing left of you will be the memories people have of you.
