How do you deal with a sarcastic boyfriend?

Answer Do Not be Sarcastic in return...Be sarcastic back to him will escalate and argument. IF you are arguing. You have not indicated if that is when he is sarcastic. I know from experience that being sarcastic back to him does not help at all. Next thing you know is , you're both screaming at each other. His sarcasm may be due to latent hostility or unexpressed anger toward you or something else. Sarcasm is fueled by his own insecurity about what you are discussing. Act as though you don't understand his sarcastic response. Turn his sarcasm around. ..or try repeating what he said back to him with a straight face and without the sarcasm. If you want him to stop - just leave. End the conversation. I have tried these two techniques and they seem to work.Answer

He won't know that it hurts your feelings if you don't tell him -- so you have to tell him. If he blows it off or brushes it away like it isn't something big and tells you to get over it, that's the red flag that tells you that you two really need to talk. You tell him how you feel about his sarcasm -- that it hurts your feelings. If he doesn't stop or doesn't at least try to keep from making remarks, you're gonna get hurt to the point where you just won't be able to take it anymore. Just because you like each other "sometimes" -- sometimes just isn't enough if he's causing you any sort of pain.
