Seeing all of the children having to steal and getting involved with "gangs" helped him write Oliver Twist and as you probably know this became a best seller book and make into many films. Seeing all the people with money and not helping the children on the streets inspired him to write A Christmas Carol, he also wrote it to help people see that if you are rich (like the character Scrooge) and you wouldn't miss the money you give away, you should do it and not be so stingy!
