Obviously piano. Before he played piano, he played Trumpet. Then he came down with tuberculosis and after a year and a month stint in the hospital, his doctors said it was bad for his breathing for him to continue to play the trumpet. He also played a little bit of the Saxophone, flute, and guitar. He also sang on a few records, with a voice that sounds a lot like Nat King Cole's.

In his latter years, he greatly preferred Bosendorfer; after his first time playing one, he asked, "Why doesn't everyone play on Bosendorfer?" In earlier years, he played whatever the concert hall or club had--I've seen video footage of him playing everything imaginable, even piano brands I've never heard of. Cheers!

Peterson preferred the Bösendorfer. Though, after his stroke, one sees him playing the Yamaha frequently. I suspect that's because the Yamaha has a lighter touch and a brighter sound to compensate for his weakness at that stage.

I think Oscar Peterson like to play a Bösendorfer. Again I believe it is the last Austrian/Viennese piano company left. I've hear it and it is a beautiful instrument.
