It's close between Cricket, Rugby Union, AFL and Soccer. Crickets highest payed players would be the Australian cricket team, the captain and vic captian could be on 1mill a year for playing 2-3 forms of the game(Test, ODI and 20/20) and can make a lot of $$$ from Sponsorships. Rugby Union players can make huge money in the Super 15 (The league has teams from Au, NZ and South Africa) along with playing for Australia or your country. t\The best players are on in between 1-2mill a year. AFL (Australian Football League) has more players than both and is only played professionally in Australia. Rookies now make 40-50 grand a year for just training, if they are not on the rookie list then and have just been drafted they will make around 80 grand a year, the average player makes between 200-225 grand a year. The best players can get 1mill a year but they usually have to play in a bad or young team. Before the 2011 season Garry Ablett Jr signed a 5 year apparently $9,000,000 deal with the Gold Coast Suns. His first year apparently would see him paid 2.8mill, his last year will be around 1mill. Before the 2012 season Tom Scully signed a 5 year deal worth apparently $6,000,000 with the Greater Western Sydney Giants. his first year apparently would see him paid 2mill, both these deals were due to the AFL expanding their league with 2 new teams that had a lot of $$$ to spend. The A-League(soccer) has only 2 teams that really go out and pay player big money. Harry Kewell sign with Melbourne for around 1mill a year and Sydney signed Brett Emerton for 1mill a year. I would say Cricket and AFL will be the highest paying sports for a while while Rugby and Soccer go down. NRL players make half of what AFL players can make.
