Many animals live in Cameroon. Domestic animals are over 6 million cattle, 4.5 million goats and 4.3 million sheep. Together these make almost 12% of the agricultural product of Cameroon. - Wild animals are prolific, but many are threatened. There are numerous antelope, monkey species and small rodents. In smaller numbers, elephants, rhino, hippo, various gorillas and lions. Some, like the Cross River Gorilla are down to 300 or so in numbers (which many biologists consider virtually on the point of extinction ). There are over 500 bird species.
