I don't know if everyone calls it such, but decoction is brewed coffee- that is usually then mixed with milk and sugar and relished. Aaahhh ! To make decoction Roast…ed, ground coffee beans are finely ground (Way beyond the Turkish setting. I usually get them ground at the Turkish setting and then run them through a coffee grinder at home to grind them until they cry 'uncle'). A 'desi'/Indian filter is usually used to make decoction . This is a two compartment utensil - the top part has minute holes in them. Finely ground coffee is measured (per individual taste) is added to this compartment and then, boiling hot water is poured. This results in the magic to begin working - water infuses with coffee powder to produce the brown liquid gold. The bottom part of the utensil is the collector. It's likely that only South Indians call the brown liquid decoction. But I am not sure.

It is told that Kaldi, a 9th-century Ethiopian goatherd, was the one who discovered coffee, though this did not appear in writing until 1671 and is probably apocryphal. From E…thiopia, coffee was said to have spread to Yemen, where the coffee beverage was first made and drunk, and then the beverage went to Egypt. The earliest credible evidence of either coffee drinking or knowledge of the coffee tree appears in the middle of the fifteenth century, in the Sufi monasteries around Mokha in Yemen.
Espresso typically begins with coffee beans that have been very darkly roasted (this is most often, but not always true). Once roasted, the beans are then ground to an extra…-fine powder (compared to the more "coarse" grind for generic coffee). Then, the fine-ground coffee is brewed with pressurized hot water. This requires a special machine. (No, your Mr. Coffee dripper won't do the job!) Voila! You have Espresso.
