Holland isn't necessarily the Netherlands. The Netherlands is made up of provinces that, for example, were once known as the United Provinces which made up the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Holland is commonly referred to the Netherlands as a whole as the historical center of the kingdom is in Amsterdam, which is located in the coastal (Western) areas of the Netherlands.
So simply put: Holland is the common name for the Western/Coastal provinces of the Netherlands and has come to be a common name for the country as a whole. At present, North Holland and South Holland are the two areas which make up the area traditionally known as Holland.
It looks flat with hills... looks a little like prince edward island..(except the red sand) its well maintained. most rural area's are in the east and south,
its almost always windy,
it is rainy country (not everyday ofcourse)... during summers it will be around 20 Celsius
rain is less common during summers
It has many - defenses for high water levels along the coast - because much of holland is below sea level.
Special about the Netherlands is that is one of the flatest places on earth and most of it is under sea level but still dry. Also special are the windmils, the wooden shoes and the fact that marhiuana is legal( however not everybody use it.) Not forget to mention that almost all dutch people have immigrant ancestors and that it shaped new york.
It is legal in the Netherlands above 16yr. to buy fireworks and fire them on the new years eve. Legal to buy and smoke softdrugs in cofeeshops. Abortion is Legal. Gay/Homo/Lesbian marriage is Legal.

The Netherlands is know as Holland. The country is called both names.
holland is only a part of the Netherlands its like saying England you know its only a part of the county :D
I would like to know
don't know lol
Holland and The Netherlands are often used to refer to the same place. Holland is actually only a part of the Netherlands, so they are not the same thing. Many people don't know that and use both names to refer to the same thing. Usually when people use Holland they are intending to refer to the Netherlands. So technically it was the Netherlands and Spain beat them 1-0, but if you said Holland people would know what you mean.
i know isabella s.
He invented the submarine, something like an underwater boat, if you don't know what it is. John Philip Holland developed the first submarine to be formally commissioned by the U.S. Navy, and the first Royal Navy submarine, the Holland.

If you want to know the dutch word for 'a city', it is 'een stad'. But if you want to know what it is, it's the same as anywhere else.
