It is the philosophy that a person has the absolute rights to their own person. That they are free to do what they wish as long as it does not harm another person. A libertarian advocates "liberty" (freedom from restrictions), especially with regard to conduct.

Modern Libertarianism conflicts with socialized government because in trying to provide for the whole of society, government impinges on the prerogatives of individuals.
