It is a naturally and artificially crated form type of Silicon carbide, a component is some jewelry. It is very rare to find in nature, because of this, it is manufactured in large scale in labs for use.

Moissanite was discovered in the 1800’s in a meteor crater and is a very rare mineral. Moissanite, as you know it today is lab grown and costs a quarter of the cost of a diamond. A diamond’s price is based on cut, clarity, and other characteristics whereas a moissanite is usually the same price and varies only with size and whether it is enhanced or non-enhanced.

Is Moissanite a real diamond?

No, Moissanites and diamonds are two different gemstones but they have similarities between them. Moissanite is 70 percent cheaper than diamond but it has a more refractive index and almost the same hardness. if you are looking to buy a diamond but you can not afford it. you can go for moissanite as with the naked eye it is almost impossible to differentiate between them. I bought a 4-carat moissanite emerald cut From Braverman Jewelry. They are in the business for a very long time and sell only genuine products. If you want to purchase one you can buy it from there. If you want to know more you can visit Bravermanjewelry

How can you tell the difference between diamonds and moissanite?

Moissanite presents an interesting alternative to diamonds, insofar as gem-quality 'bling' is concerned. Some describe it as a substantive alternative to diamond many times more valuable than other diamond alternatives. Because of natural moissanite's innate physical and chemical properties, it is difficult for the untrained eye to identify as different from diamonds. A certified gemologist will always be able to identify moissanite, because its base composition from silicon carbide is fundamentally different from a diamond's composition of carbon. How is Moissanite made?

Moissanite is a brilliant gemstone which was discovered by Henri Moissan, a French scientist and Nobel Prize winner. He discovered minute quantities of a new mineral in an ancient meteorite in Arizona. It is a hard, durable and beautiful gemstone with shimmering brilliance, fire and luster. Moissanite is a combination of carbon and silicon, chemical name silicon carbide. It is made in a lab with a combination of pressure and heat. Single-crystal moissanite is manufactured through a patented thermal growing process, the specifics of which are proprietary.

How do you identify diamond?

The best way to identify a diamond is to use a diamond tester. It is a handheld device which sends a thermal beam (heat) inside the stone and reads how fast the stone conducts the heat. Each mineral has a different heat conductive coefficient so this way you can tell a diamond from other stones. However, a moissanite (a withe stone grown in the lab) has the same response as a diamond so a diamond tester may confirm the moissanite as a diamond. Recently, a moissanite tester has been developed , so it can differentiate a diamond from a moissanite. Also a moissanite turns deep yellow when heated with a torch then turns back to white when cools down. Also, it is possible that a trained eye can see a greenish color it the moissanite.

What is worth more Moissanite or a diamond?

Diamonds are (slightly) harder, therefore they're worth more. Naturally occuring moissanite is rarer than diamonds, but that doesn't really factor into the equation because the gems used for moissanite jewelry are artificially produced anyway.

What mineral is the closest relative to moissanite?

Moissanite closely resembles a diamond. However, there are many differences to be noted. Such as the color, clarity and strength. Each of these traits are considered less desirable in the Moissanite, but much more desirable then a Cubic Zirconium would be.

How much does a karat of jewelry grade Moissanite typically cost?

Discover the breathtaking beauty of Moissanite, an incredible gemstone that was born from a star. Boasting fire, brilliance, and luster that far surpasses even that of a diamond, Moissanite twinkles and sparkles unlike any gemstone on earth. Composed of carbon and silicon the Moissanite crystal is one of the hardest on earth, making it extremely resistant to scratching, chipping and breaking.

What are the differences in price between a real diamond ring or moissanite engagement ring?

The prices between a real diamond ring or a moissanite engagement ring can vary greatly. Generally, real diamond rings are up to 1000% more expensive than moissanite rings.

What does MOI marking on a 14K diamond ring mean?

it means that your "diamond" ring is not actually a diamond, but a Moissanite ring! Moissanite is a alternative to diamonds. They're scientifically proven to have higher clarity than diamonds and the same scratch resistence. My engagement ring is moissanite and it's gorgeous!

What are the advantages of diamonds over Moissanite?

Color, hardness - Diamonds are harder than Moissanite, and it's impossible to produce a pure white moissanite. The stones are slightly fluorescent, which means they appear slightly green or gray in normal light. It's much greater under natural light. In a jewelry store a moissanite dealer will always show the stones under a pink tinged light, as this tends to cancel out the fluorescence.
