An old tradition of one week continuous prayer for the dead and deceased around Allerheiligen (1st November) and Allerseelen (2nd November). Not sure if it is still practised, at least in the area I grew up (Upper Austria) it hasn't been practised for quite a while, as my grand parents told me about doing it when they were young.

Seleenwoche is "All Souls' Week" in Austria. It is celebrated October 30--November 8 by remembering and praying for the dead and by leaving bread, water, and a lamp on a table each night before going to bed. These offerings are thought to welcome the dead souls.
