The following day Selena got up early, got dressed as though she was going jogging and took Chris's truck back to the Days Inn where Selena and Saldivar argued over Saldivar holding records still to the point where Selena said that they could not be friends at that time and nor could they work together. She took the ring the "Saldivar" got for her and was about to place it on the bed when Saldivar pulled out the .38-Caliber Taurus Revolver and shot Selena once in the right shoulder as Selena ran for her life, severing an artery. Saldivar chasing her calling her a bitch. Severely wounded, Selena stumbled her way to the lobby and fell twice; once by the pool and again in the lobby where she lay as the clerk called 911 and Selena named Saldivar as her assailant and gave the room number. Selena transported to the local hospital where at 1:05 pm she was pronounced dead. The room number where Selena was shot was 158 and now has been re-numbered to 156.
