chicken chicken and other meat+food we wont like or find pleasherable
I read somewhere that "the only native dish in Suriname would be chicken with rice". I don't remember where, sorry. But since Suriname has such a mixed culture, there are many dishes from other countries.

Beans, cheeses, corn, fruits, hot peppers, meat, seafood, and vegetables are the foods that the cuisine of Suriname emphasizes. Suriname's cuisine is varied because of the many cultures in its history. The cuisine combines the Caribbean style with Chinese, Dutch, French, Javanese, Jewish, North Indian, and West African influences. A popular traditional dish is vatapa, a seafood dish made of different types of fish, pepper, and vegetables.

Suriname is a highly culturally diverse country. So it really doesn't have a national food. But in recognition of contributions made to Suriname's colorful, delicious, and fascinating cuisine by ethnic immigrants, favorite foods from Hindu, Javanese, and West African cultures follow.

One, saoto [soto ayam] is a spicy chicken soup of Javanese origin. Its combines chicken breast and vermicelli with bean sprouts, lemon grass [Cymbopogon citratus], onions, and potatoes. Spices include black or white pepper, daun salam [Syzygium polyanthum, Indonesian bay leaf], garlic, Laos [Maranta galanga, Siamese ginger], pimento, and, for the bold, sambal [a very hot cayenne pepper].

Two, moksie alesie [mixed rice] is of West African origin. It's a rice dish with coconut milk, meat [beef, chicken, pork], peppers, tomatoes, vegetables, and white beans. It can also be made with fish.

Three, phulauri is an East Indian snack that includes onions and yellow split peas. It's spiced with cayenne pepper, cumin seeds, and garlic.
