PAINT:

Throat paints are more viscous due to a high content of glycerol, designed to prolong contact of the medicament with the affected site.
There is abundant clinical evidence to show painting the external throat with iodine can reduce pain of the throat, may curb and even eliminate throat infections, boosts overall immune function and helps with conditions such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis and more. Of course, the action of this solution in the case of throat infections has been observed to be much greater when the solution is painted internally on throat tissue. According to the Merck manual, chronic toxicity may develop when intake is greater than 1.1 mg/day. Also, a precaution exists for people who may have an allergy to iodine. A simple test is to spread a very small amount on the skin of your inner thigh and watch for small blisters to appear within a few hours. If blisters do appear, you may be allergic to or have an allergic reaction to Iodine solutions.
