the united nations is a peace-keeping organization made after WWII by the allies. the five permanent "seats" of the Security Council are France, America, Britain, Russia and China. there are five other "seats" change out every year. the other part of the UN is the General Assembly, which has an ambassador or two from almost every country in the world, minus a handful of smaller, third world countries. The UN's primary job is to keep peace, and promote economic growth.

The United Nations was established by Charter at San Francisco on June 26,1945.It is based on the sovereign equality of all its members and establishes machinery to enable them to settle their disputes,maintain international peace and co-operate together for the general welfare.Power is given to Her Majesty by the United Nations Act 1946 to give effect by Order in Council to measures not involving the use of armed force,including the apprehension,trial and punishment of persons offending against the Order.
