PETAETAL is used when you are doing a comparitive essay. When you are talking about two texts then in one paragarph you need to talk about both texts. Like in PETAL you are only discussing one text, PETAETAL discusses two. Reemeber P-point, E-evidence, T-technique, A-analysis and L-link. The ETA is repeated for the comparitive essay. YOU DO NOT REPEAT P and L. Remeber you apply the PETAL and PETAETAL on ALL your BODY PARAGRAPHS, NOT INTRODUCTION OR CONCLUSION.

T = name the technique used by the writer in the quote

A= analyse the technique explaining how it helps demonstrate the point

L= link all your ideas back to the initial point you made
