ROM=Read Only Memory
True ROM is screened at the factory as is a Microprocessor. It cannot be changed without destroying the contents. There are many advantages to this as the contents can be counted on to remain the same throughout the life of the device it is installed in. This is also the major pitfall as it is not upgrade-able either.
ROM is a perfect medium to store boot-time instructions for a computer or portable device which are expected to be unchanging. Reading the boot track data for a device that includes magnetic media is one use for ROM. It can hold simple hardware diagnostics. It can also include audio-visual information such as standard sounds and icons or simple startup sounds and textual cues for system errors.
Almost all electronic media that is distributed on some hardware uses ROM. Video Games, DVDs, music. Almost anything that you would READ but not CHANGE.
Since this question was asked in the computer/software question then I would assume you're talking about Read Only Memory (ROM) the ROM is the part of a computers memory that can be read but not altered as it contains the essential programs called BIOS (Basic Input Output System (system hardware code / programs) that neither the computer nor the user can alter or erase as the computers start up commands come from the read only memory any alterations made to it could cause your computer to stop functioning.
Answer 2:
A "ROM" can also be the hard code used in some video games (almost all video arcade games are ROM coded games) - these codes are "dumped" and then people use "emulators" to properly access the code and play the game. People have given them the nickname of "ROM's" when they are dumped.
ROM stands for Read Only Memory.
The ROM is non-volatile memory;it retains stored information even if the power is turned off (unlike RAM).This is basically used for storing programs and data that need not be altered one stored.
Processor uses ROM to store and execute programs instructions. However it is a type of prime memory and not a storage memory, therefore don't compare it with Hard Disks or CDs and DVDS etc
As the name itself suggests, the information can only be read not deleted, altered or even overwritten. This means that once a bit pattern is stored ,it is permanent or at least semi-permanent (if supports alteration).
The permanent group includes two types ,viz. ,ROMand PROM (Programmable ROM).
The semi-permanent also includes two types ,namely,EPROM (Erasable PROM)and EE-PROM(Electrically Erasable PROM).

ROM stands for Read Only Memory. It is permanent memory in a computer that cannot be changed. It is need for the computer to work. Most memory is wiped clean when you turn off your computer. If it lost all memory it would not be able to start up again. So it needs some instructions stored in memory that is there when the computer starts. It then uses this to give further instructions to the computer and help it boot up. If you watch your screen when a computer is booting, you will see lots of things happening. You will normally see a mention of ROM at some stage of the process.
The "ROM" that you are most likely referring to is basically a copy of a game for a console, such as "Super Mario Sunshine", or "Pokemon Emerald". Many video gaming companies are against ROMS and it is illegal to have them without having the actual copy of the game. These ROMS can be played on emulators on the commuter, such as "Visual Boy Advance" for the Game Boy Advance, and "Desume", an emulator for the DS. I hope I helped you by answering your question.
It stores the BIOS which is needed for the computer to start up
It is an internal memory. It is Read only memory so if we stich the computer off nothing will be deleted from it. It is attached to the motherboard.
Read Only Memory
Storing constant data or programs, like the bootstrap code for the computer or lookup tables for mathematical functions.
ROM is good to store permanent backups or software.
ROM is important because it shows how much memory you can store.
Random access memory
hi
The same as the difference between a phonograph record and a phonograph. The CD-ROM is where the data is stored. the purpose of the CD-ROM drive is to read it.
Range of motion (ROM) exercises assist in recovery from fractures, trauma and a variety of other medical conditions. They help the patient regain functional mobility and flexibility.
ROM Nation is for video game die hards. There are ROMs available for all sorts of video game platforms. They even have them for old Atari games and SEGA Genesis.
my dad said it means it's working
cdrom is static rom
all rom is static
A CD ROM drive cannot read a DVD. So it is not possible to use a CD ROM as a DVD ROM. A DVD ROM drive can work with a CD though.
no
CD-ROM or DVD-ROM
Lori Rom's birth name is Loren Rom.
ROM is permanent storage because you can not alter data in ROM
