Right click upon the Tab bar and select 'New Tab'

Clicking a tab does not close it anyway. It can be closed by clicking on thee right of the tab on the cross sign.
To rename a tab, just right-click on the tab name then select rename. Just type the new name from that point.
You can always close an unwanted tab if you want to. The close or X symbol at the right of each tab title can do that.
